The weather in Alanya

Alanya is a favourite resort for millions of tourists from all over the world. The pearl of the Turkish Riviera is nestled in the arms of the Taurus Mountains on the one hand, and the turquoise Mediterranean Sea on the other. As for the climate, in Alanya it is typically Mediterranean - in winter there is never a subzero temperature, but it often rains, and the summer is dry and hot. You can go to Alanya almost all year round, depending on what goals you pursue on vacation.

Alanya in winter: snowfall only of discounts

There is no snow in Alanya, except high in the mountains. Winter is not considered the best time to travel, but it has its advantages. Let's take a closer look.

In December, it is quite often cloudy and rains, about 80 mm of precipitation falls. The air warms up to +17 - +18 during the day, at night the temperature can drop to +9, but the sea cools down gradually - the water temperature fluctuates between +18 - +20 degrees. The bravest ones can even swim. But still, a trip to Alanya in December can only be recommended for shopping lovers, who will be very pleased with the Christmas and New Year sales in shopping centers.

January is the coldest, wettest and windiest month in Alanya. The temperature reaches +15 during the day and drops to +7 - +12 at night. On the most inclement days, the wind makes the cold feel stronger. The amount of precipitation is about 140 mm. The weather is not the best for relaxation and sightseeing, but the prices for accommodation are the lowest in January.

February is also not a tourist month in Alanya, but there are fewer cloudy days, precipitation is about 50 mm, but the water temperature in the sea does not exceed +17 degrees. By the end of the month, it is noticeably warmer and spring begins to feel.

Spring Alanya: the blooming city of the sun

In the spring, Alanya revives and flourishes. Of course, it still rains, but much less often, and the temperature of the water and air at the beginning of spring is fixed at around +17.

March is a transitional month when winter leaves Alanya and spring takes over. At the beginning of March, there is still a decent amount of precipitation, but by the end of the month they are reduced to about 20 mm. During the day, the air and water in the sea is heated up to +18 degrees, which is still not comfortable conditions for a beach holiday.

And in April, you can already think about an excursion vacation. For swimming, the water is still cold enough (maximum +19), but for sightseeing, the temperature is just very comfortable, there are not so many tourists yet, and many hotels can be booked with discounts.

May is the beginning of the tourist season. Alania blooms and smells sweet, the air warms up to +25 - +28 degrees during the day (a couple of degrees colder at night), and the water in the sea reaches a comfortable indicator of +23 by the end of the month. There is almost no precipitation.

Summer is beach time in Alanya

June is the best time to relax on the Alanya coast. The sea is warmed up to +25, and the air temperature in the first half of the month is still comfortable - up to +30. Beach vacation can be combined with excursions and walks around the city. At night, the temperature drops by only a couple of degrees, a light breeze gives you coolness. There is practically no rain in June, except for very short-term showers a couple of times a month as an exception. From the second half of June, the temperature can rise to +34 degrees and most vacationers prefer not to leave the hotel territory and spend time on the beach or by the pool. Dry hot weather in June is enhanced by high air humidity (80-90%).

The hottest and driest month in Alanya is July. It is not tolerated well by everyone; it is better to get to the beach in the morning before lunch and in the evening. During the day, the air temperature may not drop below +32, and at night +26. But the sea is like fresh milk - +28, just a fairy tale. On the coast, if a light breeze is blowing, it is quite comfortable to be.

August can sometimes be shocking with a temperature of +40, but still, in general, the heat subsides. The peak season is in July-August, with most tourists during these months.

The velvet season

September is also a favorite time for vacationers to visit Alanya. The prevailing weather is as follows: in the daytime up to +31, at night about +27 degrees; the water in the sea keeps warm at the level of +28 - +29; by the end of the month, the air becomes a couple of degrees colder. The rains begin to appear only closer to October and even then, for a short time. Compared to summer, there are significantly fewer tourists, and the weather is not so hot, which makes September very attractive for vacation.

October is considered the beginning of the velvet season; its first half is perfect for both beach holidays and excursion programs. Cloudy days are rare, mostly it is sunny. The air temperature is about +26 in the daytime and +22 at night, the water in the sea is +25.

Autumn comes to Alanya with the onset of November. This is perhaps the last month when it is still worth going to Alanya for the beach. The water temperature is kept at around +22, but it is raining noticeably more, and the air temperature is rarely higher than +23 during the day, and at night it is usually below +20 degrees.

Well, let's summarize:

For a beach holiday, the period from early June to late October is suitable, when the water temperature is the most comfortable. If you want to relax on beaches less crowded with tourists, then May and the first half of November are also an excellent choice.

The most comfortable period in terms of air temperature, when it is not too hot yet, is the end of May and the second half of September. The sea is warm, there is practically no rain, and there are much less people than in summer.

If the purpose of the trip is to visit excursions and you do not want a crush at the sights, then March-April and November are quite suitable for these purposes.
